Abstract

ABSTRACT Myxoglobulosis, a variant of mucocele, was first coined by Von Hansemann in 1914. The mucin globules were formed as an attempt to organise the mucin by the surrounding granulation tissue.A 17 years old male patient came with the history of swelling over the lower lip for past 2 months. Swelling measured about 2x2 cm, fluctuating, soft in consistency. Histopathological examination revealed features of mucocele with globules forming myxoglobulosis.Prognosis of mucocele – myxoglobulosis variant will be better than other types of mucoceles with low recurrence rate, good host response, however follow-up is essential.
